西游 - 降魔篇 Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons (2013)

First of all, I would like to Thanks Tony for the movie pass, it makes me excited because I am carrying a very big excitement and watch this movie. At the end, it is not as awesome as Kungfu Hustle (2004), perhaps I probably would like to predict that Stephen Chow going to create a series of Journey to the West. Because the ending of this movie showing that Xuan Zhang and 3 guardian begin their journey to the west to collect the Holy Sutra to save the world.

西游 - 降魔篇 Journey To The West: Conquering the Demons list of casts: link
With Shu Qi act as Ms. Duan, the Demon Hunter who kinda cruel, her personality is kinda manly and dumb. Dumb as in very fast fall in love with Xuan Zhang, consider not a bad acts actually. Not sure is the movie origin language is Cantonese or Mandarin, it makes me unable to enjoy the process of whole movie. It makes me think that it was obviously that the original languages of this movie is Mandarin. Actually, the jokes in this movie was promising, is just that the "lips sync" spoil the jokes.

My rating: 6/10
Laughable, kinda grab balls at the end of the movie, all you can do is smile towards the big screen and say: "你好嘢!"

Thanks for reading, by Kian Fai.

  2. Warh, you gave an original film with moral message 5/10 but this over-adapted tale a 6/10? A bit unjustified lol. Review on Jack Lim's Once Upon A Time

  3. Hmmm... I am not a big fan of Stephen Chow, don't think I'll catch this in the cinema too. Plus cinema would be crowded here during CNY (there's only one cinema here at my place =_=)

  9. Too much graphic effect. Poor casting except Shu Qi. Quiet dissapointed after a big hoo haa about the movie. Stephen Chow have to find new direction with lesser graphic effect, else this will be last time.watching his production.

  10. Extremely bad movie. Bad development of character and story line. The animations are so horrible right from the beginning. The Kung FU scene is done like for 50 years and yet is still the same kind of kung fu shit.

    1. Absolutely agree. I would rather the 1996 version.

  11. After watching it, I think I am still ok with the story and like the CG effects, but quite shocked and disappointed with the appearance of the monkey king and the pig, so ugly and weird. I know Mr. C trying to refresh the old appearance with new ones, but not these ones... :( The monkey king obviously cast by a kid, so tiny and ugly. It should look scary, fierce, and prestige. not tiny, ugly and big headed. Bad art direction and the dialog didn't feel funny with it at all. Obviously this movie is made for China market. Mr. C should get ready to be compared with Donnie Yen's Monkey king coming soon one, like the poster a lot! Can't wait for it.
