Les Misérables (2012)

First of all, thanks to Churp2 for the movie invitation and I really appreciate it. Les Miserables is a musical movie, and also it is 2 hours 40 minute long movie. For me, I really liked this movie, somehow some part of singing isn't very good and not very impressive.

Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, a man once a prisoner and become slave for around 19 years +, then he became good when he feel the kindness from a Pastor (I think so). After long year later, he became a mayor with his own effort and trying to help the poor around the town as well.

Anne Hathaway as Fantine, once a factory worker for Jean. Some incident makes her feel depress and suffer a very deep negative emotion that makes her dont feel like live on this planet anymore. Couldn't be strong enough and Jean promise her to take good care of Cosette.

Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, daughter of Fantine. Ever since she taken care by Jean, she is curious about his past all the time and she feel frust because she couldn't get a proper answer from him. One day, she and Marius meet with eye contact and immediate fell in love with each other from that day.

Russell Crowe as Javert, the officer who searching for Jean and hunt him down. Unfortunately, Jean manage to get away from him always and Javert started to swore towards the star and hunt him down. At the end he commit suicide because of being too emotional about his mistake of Jean and the loss of barricade wars.

Eddie Redmayne as Marius, he is the lover of Cosette and he is a rebel. I am not so sure about the original about this movie story, and I hope that they could settle the Rebel case then end the movie.

Overall rating from me is 6.5/10, the singing in this movie: some part is out of tune, Jean (Hugh Jackman) looks almost immortal for the whole movie, and character emotion in this movie is too strong. I felt kinda touchy on some part of story scene, if you really like musical and nice story flow, this movie might be the best choice!

P.S.: I think I might sing better than them . . . LOL!

Thanks for reading, by Kian Fai.

  1. The singing is actually good and quite perfect already (they would retake if it's not) just that some of their voices are not suitable for the songs. Les Miserables 2012 movie review

    2. It's deliberate. Why would they still keep the scene if it's out of tune lol. One FC MMA returns to Malaysia in February 2013

  7. Absolutely loved it to bits though. Buying tickets to rewatch:D

This is not the usual recorded in studio musical. Singers were at their natural self minus the usual studio edits that makes everyone the perfect singer:P
